Bluetooth speakers often produce lots of bass and therefore also lots of vibrations. Vibrations from speakers and subwoofers also causes impact noise, or contact noise. Use our vibration insulation to reduce sound problems.

Vibration dampers to reduce vibrations from speakers

Reduce vibrations and impact noise from bluetooth speakers
Most bluetooth and compact speakers and subwoofers produces to much bass and therefore also vibrations that result in rattle and other annoying noises. Much of the loud bass sounds can travel through walls and cause sound problems in the next room, or even at the next-door neighbours. You can take a look on our page "How to soundproof a neighbours wall", but you might want to try the tips on this page first. The sound problem with vibrating speakers might be more easy to solve than you think.

Soundproofing isolate vibrations from speakersDetermining the type of sound problem
Bluetooth speakers and subwoofers can produce heavy bass sounds and vibrations. When the problem of vibrations remains on a lower volume the problem is called impact noise, or contact noise, and that is exactly where this page is about, isolating a speaker with vibration insulation. The image shows a Sonus speaker on a sheet of Regufoam vibration insulation. More on that later.

If you want to keep playing music on higher sound levels you need to soundproof the room, vibration insulation products are not suitable to reduce airborne noise to and from neighbours or others rooms. To soundproof a room you can take a look on the page "Sound insulation for buildings". On that page are all the solutions and products for soundproofing wall, floors and ceilings.

Vibration dampers
In order to reduce vibrations from a bluetooth speakers or subwoofer, like in the picture, you can use a sheets of vibration insulation material such as Regufoam. We recommend the Green Regufoam with a thickness of 25 mm for most speakers. If you have a very large or heavy speaker you be better of using Purple Regufoam with also a thickness of 25 mm to place your bluetooth speaker on. No other materials are used, unless the speaker is less stable, you might want to place a piece of plywood between the two.

Regufoam vibration insulation is easily to cut to size by using a knife to make it fit underneath the speaker. If you prefer a pre-cut product you can use the Hifi Damper Pads. After you applied one of these products, vibrations will stop travelling through furniture, walls, and floors. The problem with impact noise should be solved.

Customer Experience
One of our clients experienced nuisance by the neighbours Sonos speaker. Even though the neighbours listen to music on a relative low volume our customer still noticed the vibrations, impact noise, of the speaker. In order to solve this problem, we advised to place a Regufoam sheet underneath the neighbours loudspeaker. To this end, our customer used a Regufoam sheet to place the speaker on. This was enough to mute the vibration of the Sonos loudspeaker, problem solved

In case the vibrations are not isolated enough, doubling the thickness of the Regufoam to 50 mm should lead to an improvement. In most cases you can cut the sheet in halve and place the speaker on top. This ensures a longer spring-like effect which isolates the lowest frequencies better. If you have more than one bluetooth speaker you can also consider the Regufoam Damper Pads, a set with four dampers of Purple Regufoam.
