Acoustic combination products to soundproof and absorb noise
Acoustic combination products are compositions that absorb and soundproof noise. This is why these products are widely applicable for soundproofing appliance- and machine enclosures and housing, and in pleasure crafts such as a yacht, sloop or tender. 

Combined products have several advantages compared to separately purchased sound insulation products. For starters, you only need to buy one product, cut one product and apply only one product. Acoustic combination products offer two solutions: absorb noise and soundproof noise. The result is a suitable product, saving both money and time!  

Acousitc combination products
In our product range you can find two products labeled as "Combination Plates": The heavy Merfocom and the lighter Merfodamp. Both products have there own areas of application:

Merfocom
Merfocom is a product that combines soundproofing and sound insulation in one product, consisting of five layers. Merfocom is mainly used to soundproof engine compartment, or engine rooms, in pleasure crafts such as sloop, yacht or narrowboat.

Merfocom can also be used to insulate and soundproof  pump, compressor and appliance enclosures. For example, outdoor appliances (pumps) that may cause noise nuisance for surrounding areas on a construction site or backyard, in case of a pump for a pool or hot tub.

The soundproofing mass loaded vinyl core ensures extra insulation of low frequencies. Thanks to the fibreglass fabric top layer, Merfocom can also be applied in confined spaces and small engine compartments. Merfocom is self-adhesive, but when mounted upside-down, you need to use the Insulation Pins.  This is because of the weight of the product, about 10 kg/m². Merfocom combined plates consist of the following layers:

• Top layer of grey fibreglass fabric.
• Sound insulation acoustic polyurethane foam of 25 mm.
• Isomat TS 8 soundproofing core. 
• Polyurethane acoustic foam layer of 5 mm for decoupling.
• Self-adhesive backing.

Merfodamp
Merfodamp is a product that combines sound insulation and anti-drumming in one sheet, consisting of four layers. Merfodamp is mostly applied to soundproof and absorb noise appliance and machine housing and enclosure made of aluminium, polyester or sheet metal.

When building yachts, Merfodamp can be applied for the anti-drumming and covering of fuel and water tanks and in order to soundproof lightweight appliances onboard. In vehicles this product is suitable for soundproofing the bonnet, provided that the temperature allows for this, max. 70°C.

Merfodamp consists of an anti-drumming layer and an acoustic foam of 25 mm thick, provided with an oil- and moisture proof PU top layer. This combination product can be easily cut to size and is self-adhesive. Mask the seams between Merfodamp panels using PU Finishing Tape, preventing liquids from pentrating the sound insulation foam. Merfodamp combination products consist of the following layers:

• Top layer of a black PU foil.
• Polyurethane acoustic foam layer of 25 mm.
• Vibraflex anti-drumming with a weight of 3 kg/m².
• Self-adhesive backing.
